Buildings and General Services at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a Custodial Supervisor with Operations and Maintenance.
As part of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team you will work as part of a group and independently. This position serves the Capital District (Montpelier, VT), which includes the state house and many historic buildings. The Custodial Supervisor plans, organizes, and supervises work of the building custodians. Participates in hiring, training, and evaluating custodial employees. May participate in work and perform more difficult tasks. The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for keeping and reporting on custodial employees' time and leave requests. This position reports to the Senior Custodial Supervisor and District Facilities Manager.
This is a full-time position, and the hours are 12pm - 8:30pm. The position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of a background check.

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.
Five (5) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction INCLUDING at least three (3) years of experience as a supervisor with experience in establishing performance expectations, writing and discussing performance evaluations, and delivering supervisory feedback.
OR
Three (3) years as a BGS Custodian IV.
Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations.
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
