Responsibilities

HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility)

Havenwyck Hospital s a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.

Position Summary

Provides therapeutic milieu management training and monitoring of the hospital units. Milieu management includes program content and philosophy, patient management training, environmental management, and staff competency.

Duties and responsibilities, to include; but are not limited to:

  • Assists with monitoring new employees during the orientation period in conjunction with Nurse Managers and the Lead Milieu Specialist. Responsibilities include: ensuring program schedules are followed, provide role modeling on managing patients with diagnosis of psychosis/aggression with aggressive/psychotic patients, training employees and implementing changes to Milieu.
  • Will be responsible to float to all units in the Hospital.
  • Performs assessments and recommendations related to therapeutic milieu management

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Five years of professional experience in a mental health hospital setting required.
  • Current certification as a Non-Violent Crisis Intervention instructor required or obtained ASAP but no later than 5 months
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to relate feedback and mentor existing & newly hired employees required.
  • Current certification in BLS/CPR required.
  • Good standing within the organization (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) required.
