What you drive at DTNA

  • Wiliness to interact and incorporate in a team structured working environment to meet customer demands
  • Communicate daily production problems and concerns with team members, team leader and management
  • Participate and follow current Detroit manufacturing practices including; Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Continuous Improvement, and S,Q,D,C,M metrics
  • Maintain equipment and department to fulfill 5s standards
  • Maintain and ensure high product and process quality by means of SPC gauging and utilizing measuring equipment
  • Read and follow departmental SWI's and JES's for tooling procedures
  • Responsible for setting tooling using lighted machines (Zoller-Redomatic).
  • Responsible for all regrinding and reconditioning of end mills, drills, step drills, reamers, taps and all production process tooling.
  • Responsible for operating heat shrink machines to insert and remove tooling.
  • Responsible for setting all tooling on Heavy Duty blocks, bearing caps, heads, TCC, connecting rods and liners.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Responsible for indexable blade cutters set using a height gage or indicator.
  • Be familiar with modern tool presetting machines like Zoller, Mapal
  • Familiarity with various tooling geometries
  • Must have experience and the ability to program, edit and run either Star or Saacke CNC Cutter Grinders running Numroto Software.
  • Must know how to sharpen all types of cutting tools including drills, step drills, reamers, gundrills , taps, & end mills.
  • Ability to interpret Tooling drawings and program CNC Grinders
  • Must know how to use basic measuring gages like micrometers, dial indicators, calipers.
  • Must have working knowledge of all types of cutting tool inspection equipment including,
  • Comparator, PG-1000, Zoller pom Basic
  • Must be able to inspect your own work and complete inspection reports.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • High School graduate or equivalent. Technical degree or Certificate preferred
  • Must be a journeyman Cutter Grinder or have equivalent of eight years cutter grind experience.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret tooling prints and quality reports
  • Basic computer skills required
