Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, performs non-invasive vascular testing utilizing a variety of ultrasonic and plethysmographic equipment to obtain diagnostic images and blood flow data.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operates ultrasonic and plethysmographic equipment to obtain diagnostic images and blood flow data following established protocols.
  • Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper information from the area of the body being studied.
  • Ability to decipher normal from abnormal pathology in order to obtain appropriate tests and
  • to show the abnormality in its entirety.
  • Reviews clinical data from the medical record and a brief patient history and physical assessment to ensure that the appropriate test is performed.
  • Completes a work sheet on each patient and record and initial impression to aid in diagnosis. Reviews study with the physician, clarifies any discrepancies and performs additional testing if necessary.
  • Help coordinate OPD & IPD patient scheduling. Establish good rapport with the patient, ensuring his/her cooperation.
  • Assures patient comfort with positioning, pain medications, etc.
  • Maintain a safe environment for the patient with stretchers, side rails, oxygen, therapy, IV therapy etc. Maintains clean and neat work area and insures proper supplies are available for use.
  • Prepares exam room for the patient and regularly restocks with linen and other required supplies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of one year experience working in a vascular laboratory/diagnostic facility is required.
LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • National Accreditation as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) required. Students that have trained in the Vascular Lab can be hired but must become RVT within six months or their position will be eliminated.
